The Core Driver of Team Energy

Nov 18, 2024

At the core of the Workforce Energy Management model is what feeds the team factors into a positive or negative narrative. It's 100% in the individual's control.

This compass core consists of three essential questions: What's the story?, Who's your character?, and What are the actions in play? Each of these questions influences the other, shaping the narrative of our journey in both positive and negative ways. When we consciously tune into this core compass, we gain the power to steer our lives in a more intentional and energizing direction.

What’s the Story?

The story is the lens through which we interpret our experiences. It’s the narrative we create about what’s happening in our lives, our roles, and the obstacles we face. Are you telling yourself a story of failure and frustration, or are you framing your challenges as opportunities for growth? The story you tell sets the tone for how you engage with the world.

A negative story can lead to feelings of helplessness, while a positive, empowering story fuels motivation and resilience.

Who’s Your Character?

Once you understand the story, it’s crucial to identify who you're playing in that narrative. The character you identify with shapes how you react to life’s events.

Recognizing who you’re choosing to be in your story allows you to make conscious shifts toward more positive, empowering roles.

Actions in Play

The actions you take—or don’t take—are direct reflections of your story and the character you’ve chosen.

Actions are the tangible steps that bring your story and character to life. Positive actions build momentum, while negative or passive actions reinforce a story of stagnation or defeat.

How They Feed Each Other

These three components—story, character, and actions—are constantly interacting. A negative story leads you to take on a disempowered character, which in turn results in actions that perpetuate stress, burnout, and disengagement. But when you rewrite your story, you naturally shift to a character that’s more aligned with growth and empowerment, leading to actions that push you forward.

By tuning into your core compass, you have the power to shape your journey. A negative narrative can spiral you into stress, burnout, and stagnation, but a positive narrative energizes and propels you forward. It’s about recognizing that at any given moment, you can rewrite the story, redefine the character, and take more aligned actions.

This compass is the key to steering your life with intention, leading you toward the outcomes you truly want.

Take control of your core compass, and start navigating toward a more fulfilling, energizing path.
